2019 Mesosphere

                            Mesosphere, sound performance, 2019

This is the sound performance piece by combining slit scan and video feedback techniques. By using Openframeworks which is an open source toolkit designed for the creative coding, I was able to create a system in which slit scan and video feedback can be used together. The images are start from the left side and When the images reach the right side of the screen, It will send the RGB data from Openframeworks to MaxMSP through the OSC message. Then, those data are transferred into MIDI data and it will send to the Logic Pro creating the live soundtrack. By using MIDI controller, I lively control the volume, soundtrack, and some sound effects.

The images are not controlled by me because it is a self-generated images by webcam and projector like I did on previous works such as 'Live feedback' and 'Encounter'. Therefore, I can not control the RGB data so, I can not predict the outcome of the sound. Starting from full screen images and It becomes narrowed and leaves bluish light line instead of repetitive patterns. This blue line reminds me of atmosphere of the earth when we see it from the outside of the earth. The sounds are more like cinematic sounds which I've started to learning.
