"When I first thought of a tape measure, I was intrigued by its innate concept of inverse proportion. When the tape measure line is rolled up, it has a certain volume. But when it starts to measure an object and the line extends out, the original volume shrinks, showing the concept of inverse proportion. I coincidentally came across discarded buckets, shelves and desks, and found that they had approximately the same volume. I intended to show that as the line extending from the object became longer, the volume of the object shrank and actually changed the original shape itself, eventually causing it to disappear completely."

"처음 개별적인 사물인 줄자에 대해 생각해보았을 때, 그 사물이 가지고 있는 반비례의 개념이 재미있다고 생각했다. 줄자는 동그랗게 말려있을때는 부피를 갖지만 길이를 재기 시작할 때는 선의 형태로 변환되어 선이 늘어날 수록 부피는 증가하게 되는 반비례의 형태를 반복한다. 나는 우연히 버려진 버켓, 선반, 책상을 발견하게 되었고 이것들이 같은 부피를 가지고 있다는 흥미로운 점을 발견했고, 이것들을 한쪽에는 부피가 일정하게 줄고, 다른 한쪽은 그것이 선으로 변화되면서 점차 원래의 형태에서 점점 이상한 형태로 변화되고 없어지게 하였다."
